About us

Kristen Mrozek
As of right now, my life is quite hectic. I am currently teaching alternative high school and going back to school for my Master's degree in Composition and Rhetoric. My doctorate will come next, though that will take a little longer. I live with my cat Buttercup, and my dog Rambo in a snug little home covered in my projects. My dearest fiance is away at medical school, though I plan on visiting him often!

I actually went to Civil War reenactments with my family when I was a child. As I grew, I fell in love with historical movies and clothing. Finally, after I graduated from the University of Michigan, I had the time (and funds) to fully devote myself to the craft. Before my second reenactment with the 21st Michigan, I had already sewn myself a dress (my first project ever!). Of course I had to ship my machine out to California during a visit with my family, but that attitude has motivated to continue my research and strive for accuracy, while even having time to create an etsy shop for affordable Civil War reproduction jewelry (http://www.etsy.com/shop/BiblioBeauty?ref=si_shop). Please enjoy our blog and thank you for your interest in our old-fashioned but modern lives!

Rebecca Makowski

Rebecca and her husband live on six acres by a creek with their two children. Although they have many plans for their new homestead, they have the challenges of daily life with children. Rebecca spends her day with the daily challenges of having curious children, but in her spare time she creates civil war clothing for her little family. And on even rarer occasions she is met up with Kristen for a family event or a small get together.

  1. I am looking for someone to make a braid of my wife's hair and place it into a locket. Do you do that or can you point me in the right direction? Thank you--David@northeastgem.com
